I can never be fed-up with seeing the Bar-tailed Godwit. He's still out there searching ...
Pinch and a punch for the first day of the month!
What an enormous bill! Very nice shots of a bird that still is on my "To shoot" list. Good work!
Cheers, Klaus
His bill is bendy like a bamboo straw to suction molluscs, worms and aquatic insects Klaus! They mostly migrate here in Summer which is why I've only seen one during our cold seasons ... so far ;) Thanks!
Jack has many friends.
Have just come back from Anonyphoto, what a lot of wonderful shots! You are a busy woman [or bird].
Jack is a social butterfly? Are you sure the godwit is looking for Jack? That is not a nice disposition considering he is digging! I am glad he did not find Jack that way.
I'm with Ces on this one.
I'll accept he might have been bathing, seeing as he's so keen on water but this looks more like deep mud treatment... he's not a mud wrestler too is he?
Jack has more friends than most people ElizT! That's sweet, I am a busy Lady! Heehee *tweet!*
Jack IS like a social butterfly Ces - especially after his adventure ;) The Godwit thought Jack might have gotten stuck in the mud, taking so long to return ;)
HAAHAA, Jack DOES love to wrestle but would more likely be having a beauty treatment if there was mud Caroline :) That area is well known for mud bathing! I remember frolicking mud people there since I was a child. But those were people not birds :)
Wow! Now that's a bird that can search the nooks and crannies like no other! Great shots, Anon -- I can't believe how far down he has his bill jammed in the sand. That must be where all the tender and juicy treats are. :)
I bet that bill gets him invited to a lot of parties... ;)
'hungry like a wolf...' ;) lol
They should have taken a couple on the Mars mission to 'probe' with that probiscus!
Heehee, the motes around my sandcastles aren't dug that deep, Melissa. So I wouldn't know if the juiciest treats are hidden there. A new type of treasure buried under the sand!
I wouldn't be surprised Tony LaRocca! The other party goers would have to be quick because the goodies disappear fast!
"Scent and a sound, I’m lost and I’m found" No thinking about happy meals Laughing Wolf!
HAHHAA, oh no! That would mean Fried Godwit, Baino!
