Caspian Tern and Red-necked Stints - quite a size difference!
Ruddy Turnstones, White-faced Heron and Sooty Oystercatcher.
Crested Terns and Silver Gull.
Can you see the Great Cormorant amongst the terns and gulls?
There are six types of birds in this photograph!! Not all can be listed in the tags ...

See you in my morning!
;)
What is attracting all these birds on the rocky shore? Oyters, mollusks, fish, shrimp, crabs, sea bugs? Wow, I just thought of a great seafood menu, except for sea bugs.
It is just one big ol' bird party! Isn't it cool when you can see so many different birds in one spot -- awesome, Anon!
you know where i could go with this foursome, but i shall not. instead, once again i thank you for the winged spice and variety you bring to my life! and, because i am familiar with the birds of the sea, i like this series alittle extra.
:)
Its Prince Caspian! (that was a favourite book as a child...)
Foursomes and pool parties... watch out for for strange blog visitors Anon :-D
BTW, I need your help. One of the youngsters from the crow family appears to have left the nest but can't fly more than a few feet above or across the ground. According to the neighbours it first appeared on Thursday and has been hiding out in the bushes when not wallking across the gardens. I'm wary that the local cats or dogs might get it.
Should we stay clear or try to rescue it? And if we need to rescue it how should we go about doing so?
Ta
Wow - that Caspian Tern is huuuuge!
Does it need a permit to fly?
Cool variety again!
Cheers, Klaus
We had a big native pigeon crash into a window once, sitting dazed on the ground with cats gathering silently from surrounding suburbs. I phoned the SPCA and was told to pop it up on a branch. I became rather heated and they arrived, grudgingly, tried to catch the poor floundering thing and only managed it after another window whang. I did cool down enough to find a donation.
Tsup*!* I'm playing catch up ... loved the musical Galahs and these mix n match sea side birds *!*
Bwark*!* Your Kingship
An aquatic reserve filled with algae, sea anemones, sponges, sea urchins, worms, barnacles, cunjevoi, crabs, chitons, limpets, sea stars and galeolaria, Ces! That's just half of it and the birds don't eat them all ;) Feel like seafood soup now?
Heehhee Melissa, when there's so many varieties there's no other way to photograph than like the last two! Thanks :)
There are six down the bottom KJ! Didn't you see them all? You must feel at 'home' :)
It IS Prince Caspian, Caroline! He's changed a little since a child ;)
No strangers here Miladysa - yet! It's normal for birds to sometimes fall out of a tree a few days early. I'm sure its parents are close by but if you're afraid of cats and dogs getting it, you could try putting it up into a tree using a towel or relocating it into a safe backyard.
HAHAA, the Caspian does look HUGE next to the Red-necked Stints, Klaus!
It's mostly best to leave the fallen birds ElizT :) A pigeon is easier to relocate than a crow! When protecting Maggie from predators we physically ran and barked or meowed them away. Hhehhee
Tsup*!* Tsup*!* Bimbimbie! Hope you had a great weekend :) Thanks! Jack says *BWARK*!*
We had a fallen baby bird that my daughter tried to save. I am sure the parents were on the pine tree. They were so noisy. I told her to leave the baby bird alone but she insisted to put it in the pet carrying box. The following day, the bird was gone. I saw no carcass so I figured, all was well. Sometimes it is painful to see injured birds. We saw one in the highway, probably was hit by a car. It was limping and and since it was the highway, we could not stop. I dreaded to think what happened. I just hate it when animals run out of room. It's great to see these birds in their natural habitat away from the resorts.
Ces, Bearman was attacked by a flock of Noisy Miners the last time he tried 'saving' a baby by putting it back up into a tree! I was fearful for his life, or at least his eyes!! Fortunately many shore and water birds are gathering at this reserve which is just around the corner. The reason being many other habitats have been destroyed and their numbers diminishing along with the habitats. Luckily, most "resorts" aren't in Sydney :)
I hate to think what would happen if the birds go away. A lot of bird species were wiped out with the destruction of the rain forests in the Philippines during martial law.
If all the birds go away, so do we Ces :O
Ich denk das Pelikans unt Keligans neine nine.
You have spots in front of your eyes from drinking too much tea Albrecht von Krappa! Ich kann neunundneunzig Vögel nicht sehen.

SCAT G3TFilms! No eating the performers!!

"if all the birds go away so do we".
i love that sentence.
I am going away now.
So long as it's not fine dining Laughingwolf :)
That's a horrible sentence KJ!
Oh no. Ces, come back! *tweet*!
You're in Sydney, AUSTRALIA BoiledEggIn ADeckchair!
Nice birdies. I like birdies. It's a good day for bird watching, but alas...I have to work. :(
Try to skywatch whilst driving and window watch whilst working and you'll see a birdie, Red Mojo! You might have to keep one eye on the road plus hammer and nail or it wouldn't be nice ;)
