Burnt out photos - that time of day and the bridge is over water. Red Wattlebird's bridge isn't burning down... Clever clown bird!

That's a cool bird - with red eyes and red flaps on the head! Woah!
Good ones despite burn!
Cheers, Klaus

Klaus, they are pretty cool birds, but consider our backyard as theirs only :) Thanks!

What a lovely yellow belly! And are those little red wattle kind of things? We were driving a back road along the creek today when I spotted a great blue heron. My mom and co-dad were driving behind us, and my mom had just said that it was her goal to see a heron over the weekend. I quickly rolled down my window and pointed -- she got to see it! :) Just in time, too, because they headed back to VT this afternoon.

Those are red wattles and he does have a cheerful yellow belly Melissa :) Your Mum's visit was complete then!

I know Simon! Jack likes cheese sometimes :)

No he can't reach his wattles Ces! Heehee

Behind those red eyes is the need to rule our backyard KJ!

You always have a funny angle on birds. I like that.

Chrome3D, this time it's the bird who has a funny angle! HAHAHA :)

can you knit one for him? ;) lol

No way LaughingWolf! A red nose would be five stitches worth HAHA. Flicking jam is less fiddley!

Oh! I love the Red Wattle Birds, sometimes we will get one in our garden - but the Little Wattle Bird chases them off - He is most insistent that my garden is HIS territory - and I cant complain!
Great shots Anon!!

It must be ALL wattlebirds' occupation to think the backyard is theirs only :) The Little ones live in other gardens higher up here, but the Reds have claimed and nested in ours for a very long time. Thanks Lavender!!

Interesting red markings, sort of like little earrings.

I was so taken with the curve his beak and the pattern of his feathers I didn't even see the wattle until I read the comments.

He's a work of art!

Wattle you think of next! They're gorgeous aren't they except for that birdcall! And they don't just like wattle, particularly fond of bottle (brushes that is)

Anonymous said...

Hhehee, they do look like earrings Annie! The yellow belly to go with makes them tribal ;)

A masterpiece, Debra Kay!

I don't mind their calls compared to the Miners, Baino :) They like Bottlebrushes more than Wattle - just like Jack ;)

There are Red Mojo! This must be how they keep their slender figures ;)
