Sooty Oystercatcher really was the expert. If he can crack oyster shells the way he does, he can crack any case – like that of a missing parrot ;)
What a pretty little bird.
Although I think he might be in disguise. That beak is a dye job; as can be evidenced by his non-matching legs.
You got some pretty neat birds down under. And you shoot 'em well! ;)
Cheers, Klaus
Hhehee, I'd watch what you're saying G3TFilms, he's not that 'little' being an average size of 50cm! I've always thought red clashes with pink ... ;)
Thanks Klaus, he's our only all black shorebird (ignoring colour of bill, eyes and legs) :)
We have lots of all blacks.
On New Zealand shores ElizT? I hope there hasn't been an oil spillage :O
The colors here are so rich - the blue of the left behind water, the green on the rocks, not to mention the matching orange of the Scooty's eyes and bill.
I hope he does not send yu the bill for the search !! ahahahahaha
Ohhh thankyou Annie, it is Mother Nature who is rich! :)
EWWWWW, an Oystercatcher's bill on the mantelpiece Simon!?! I haven't given him permission to charge for his services, so it would be illegal if a bill arrived. Hhheee ;)
ahahah! BTW did you notice that my BBQ has headlights? true!!!!
:o)
Tsup*!* I'm so glad that neither Godwit or Sooty found Jack with their bills ... he would have looked like a dangling rainbow worm Tsup*!*
I did notice your headlighted BBQ Simon :)
Tsup*!* Tsup*!* Bimbimbie! I'm also glad, wouldn't want to find a 'cracked' parrot! :O
All Blacks.
They train hard if on a rock platform ElizT! Heehee :)
Black Biiiiird siiiiiinging in the deeeeeeeeaaad of niiiiiiiiighttt!!!!
Love the orange bill... Very chic!
What a beautiful bird! That orange bill against the glossy black feathers -- tres Halloween, n'est pas? :)
Hhheee, think I've woken to a fashion runway MerlinPrincesse :)
HAAHAA, this Sooty is exhibiting the Halloween Range, Melissa. At the same time, we're afraid of strutting in the dark because that's when the SEAMONSTERS show ;)
cool... busy li'l feller :)
A perfect Halloween bird!
He's an interesting one LaughingWolf :)
