What wonderful head plumes the Little Pied Cormorant is displaying!
I agree, and wonderful photos (again)!!
BTW I am editing the postI did re Mt York... Seems in the storm yesterday I lost the photos!
Gorgeous!! These are my favorites of your most recent shots, Anon -- the sun glinting on the blue of that duck's wing and the wingspan of the cormorant ... awesome!
I ditto Melissa!
That Pacific Duck is awesome looking and the Cormorant's wings remind me a little of the mystery bird I once saw although his body was nothing like the Cormorant's.
I can't believe it is well into Monday there - at least the sun is shining :)
Thanks Simon, the storm was excellent after such high temperatures! Although, not if your computer lost things ...
It certainly looks like Summer here Melissa, pleased to hear there isn't too much squinting viewing the bird's portraits :)
A mystery bird Miladysa! Hope you happen upon it again! Well into Monday alright ... sitting under a stack of paperwork. No sun after the storm yet; these birds were photographed on the weekend ;)
Wow! I love that Cormorant! Ours are all black, and they don't look as grumpy
HAHAHA he DOES look really grumpy PrincessPeppercloud! We have four types of Cormorant in Sydney, Australia and the Little Black Cormorant is the only all black. More moody cormorants later ;)
I remember the first time I saw a tree full of cormorants, that look a lot like ducks, but ducks in a tree, what a strange sight. So, I started calling them "tree-ducks". When they are really cool is watching them in the water, they dive under and come up 25 feet away. They are really neat!
The mandarin ducks are hatched up in a tree and then they jump down into the forest floor. I think these are the same cormorants that I saw at KJ's backyard, the one that flew above and aimed for our heads. Luckily, I ducked. Hahaha!
Hehhheee, our 'tree ducks' are the Wood ducks who sleep in trees and really are 'ducks' Red Mojo :) YES! I had a hard time photographing the Little Pied Cormorant after he dove in. Waiting to find out where he was going to pop up out of the water! To be blogged much later HAHA!!
OH those are Cormorants in your drawing of KJ's backyard Ces, how wonderful! Hhehheee, guess KJ isn't so quick ducking :)
Aw Anon, love that angle you got on the Duck - way groovy change in perspective - and nice preening demo too tehehehe Love the Cormorant shots as well...my arms always get tired just watching them dry thier wings :)
Stop by my place for a little something, yes, tis times 2 ;)
Thanks! Hheheee, Cormorants do like flapping their 'arms' about a lot Lavender! OH ... I haven't stopped by times 1 yet ;)
qqqquack! i can duck. i duck all the time. i duck even when i shouldn't....
:)
True, a female Pacific Black Duck makes a loud "quack quack quack quack quack" sound, KJ :)
but anon, i am an atlantic white duck. still, a quack's a quack...
That duck has spent a lot of time preparing for the camera. Just check out the eye liner! Love the little splash of teal on their wings as well! Yep, we're back to muggy grey days again!
Hehheee, the Pacific Black knows how to prepare and perform Baino! Summer doesn't feel like summer without the sun shining or a massive storm! Grey and muggy nothingness, BLAH! Although, great sky coverage for taking outside photographs ... :)
Twitcher is a nice word...
I like it...
I use it as a term of endearment...
Maybe it has a different meaning in Australia?
What if I say "Twitchy" instead?
NO Miladysa! HAHA!! I'm a nervous wreck already :) 'Bird Stalker' sounds solid, with purpose and stable results!
