Progression

Dusky Moorehen's toes ARE touching the water!

Almost to where one knee should be!

Is this Australian White Ibis hiding something we want to see?

Definitely one foot at least ...

I love the way he has one leg in the air posing as if to say

"Take the shot now Anon!"

The birds do all appear to be posing for the camera Miladysa :)

That dusky moorhen has wild coloring on the beak and feet. Wow, that is one cool looking bird!

HEY, it copied MY colouring Red Mojo! Hhehheee. You can't really see but my bill matches my toe nails and the Dusky Moorhen has painted the tip of it's bill instead :)

Lovely! What a quiet place they have to wade in!

So sad about Heath. :(

I felt like wading myself Melissa!

Thankyou Onedia :) Each bird has been shot in a different location, but I am beyond the confines of my fenced backyard. I'm visiting waterways in my local area which is on the outskirts of the city, and within the City of Sydney. All the birds are wild and we have many national parks surrounding and reserves within this city. You must have had ESP about the black swan posted today!

Heath Ledger was very highly regarded as an Actor by me and highly respected as a person in Australia. Young Heath's death was so sudden, Melissa :(

I am especially attracted to the curved and pointed beak of the ibis and the funky colors of the moorhen's beak. The latter reminds me of corn candy during Halloween.

What about the water plants on the bottom image? Are those water lillies of some sort? I love the pink flowers. Are they wanted or are they considered weeds?

Now you mention it Ces, the Moorhen does looked dressed for halloween! The leaves of the water lily sits on the water, but the lotus rises and its leaves sit up to four feet above the water. These are named 'Lotus Lily' just to confuse you Ces! Also, named 'Sacred Lotus', in contrast to other water lilies whose leaves generally float on the water surface, the leaves are usually held above the water. Not considered as a weed, Indigenous people in Northern Australia have several uses: the rhizome stores food reserves for the plant is highly nutritious; seeds are ground for flour; juice from the leaf stalks is used in the treatment of diarrhoea; the large, water-repellant leaves are also used as umbrellas :) Very pretty too!
