Ducks!

Finally, it's a duck! A Chestnut Teal to be exact.

Why isn't SHE in the water?

This Mallard has been waiting so long for someone to turn up that ...

... she's taking a snooze.

In fact, another has turned up to the pool party and she hasn't noticed!

Lovely detail in the first photograph and I am convinced that duck is posing ;)

Ah yes, the soft glow from water reflection in that first shot Miladysa :)

What a cool looking duck, I love his blue bill, we don't have any like that around here!

The blue bill and absence of orange feet shows she isn't a hybrid Mallard but a Native, Red Mojo! The male has a green head like a Mallard but lacking a white ring around his neck. To be posted later ... :)

Your mallards sure look prettier than ours! More slender and fetching.

Ducks!! What a very nice eyeline she has ... and sitting there like that makes me want to sneak up and tweak their tail feathers ... of course, I'd probably end up with a mess on my hands ... eeek. :)

It looks like a the duck at the wood carving store, just like that!

Of COURSE Princess Peppercloud! Don't forget your rashie neither (any non Aussies know what that is)?

Must be the heat that keeps the weight off TsDuff :)

She does indeed have a lovely eyeline Melissa! Another point distinguishing her from a Pacific Black Duck is her missing bold, black stripe like a beard from the chin!

HAHA, maybe it's practising to be a statue Ces. Someone wants to know about goats in the post below ...

Beautiful pics.
Had to look up rashie--should have known it went with a cossie or boardies!

HAHA thanks ElizT :) The rashie was originally only worn by surfies but now part of complete beach wear for Aussies! Goes well with sunnies too if all items are colour coordinated ;)

Hahaha . . .just ducked over to see how the pool party is going. She should have ducked your camera but too busy ducking her head under her wing and she's cheating standing on two legs. My my anon . .you know your duckage! So what variety are my little wood ducks? I've lost my "What Bird is That" book. (There's something very wrong about seeing a duck in a tree!)

PS testing my link skills so forgive me if it doesn't work.

HAHA your type of duck is my post tomorrow Baino! REALLY! Beautiful photograph by the way :) Hmmm maybe I should make you wait in line with chickens before telling what sort of duck sleeps in trees ...BTW I have spent HOURS stalking those ducks to photograph one of their nest! Even scrambled off track through the bush in the dark just to find a nest. They are like Bunyip Nests, never to be seen! If you've seen a nest and can photograph one ... WOW! HAHHHAHHAAA Should I blow my post tomorrow ...? BTW GREAT LINK! Can I link to it tomorrow?

No thoughts about Chestnut Tea Modroom! ...hehheheee

Yes I wrote a poem about Chestnut Tea which had a park and talking puddings in it, but no ducks because you had them.
