Starling was a Darling

MINI!!!

Grainy shots of never seen before photographs of Mini extremely splashing when she had swimming lessons. Why? Because...

Yesterday a Common Starling wearing her winter colours visited! Could it be our MINI!?! Vote in the poll found at top of sidebar.

The 'Is that Really Mini Wearing her Winter Colours' Poll is closed!
The Common Starling who revisited our backyard IS Mini!!

What Bird is Mini Minor Poll Results: With fourteen voting, one grumpy twit voted the bird as NOT being Mini. Four voted MAYBE it was Mini. 64% of the voters voted YES making 9 votes FOR the bird really being MINI!!!

Mini was a darling, Wren! Long time followers on this blog all helped when she was raised then set free into the wild again :) They will be very excited to see her again! LIKE I WAS!!

PS: Don't forget to click on 'Older Posts' at bottom of Mini link to see the first day we found her ;)

Can you be sure?
Did she say, 'Mother, I'm home'?

laughingwolf said...

quite possibly is mini... :)

Anonymous said...

Mini would be a wild bird now ElizT. I trust your opinion, you be the judge, you all did very well identifying and raising her :)

Quite possibly LaughingWolf!!!

Mini's Tasmanian cousin says hello :-)

HELLO!!!!! Where were you Alan when we were identifying Mini!?! Fantastic likeness :)

kjpweb said...

Nice! My it is Mini! Coming back despite walking the (hand)Plank!
Cheers, Klaus

Anonymous said...

HAHAAA, Mini loved the plank Klaus ...really! YAY, you think it IS Mini!!!

Anonymous said...

That bird was Mini. Believe it.
Great your shots.

Anonymous said...

I believe you Luiz Ramos! Thankyou :)

I might put a poll into the sidebar now so all can vote whether it really is Mini!

Yes yes yes yes yes...... :) Awwwwwwwww!!!!! Yes yes yes!:) And YESSSSSS!!!!
*tsup back*

YES MerlinPrincesse!!! Tsup!

Baino said...

Yup definitely Mini . .don't birds 'imprint' their hand rearers?

RED MOJO said...

It must be mini! How wonderful, and...she left a comment on my blog!!!

Anonymous said...

YAY a definite answer from Baino! Some birds 'imprint' humans but she would have more likely returned because remembered it as her place of beginning. We tried very hard to teach her survival skills for the wild and to discover her natural instincts. Maybe she returned to check the environment for building her own nest in August!?!

It MUST be Red Mojo!!! Hheheee ;)

Hee Hee Hee - it could well be! And why not? In fact, Id go so far as to say - YIPPER!!!!

Yippie-eye-ooh? Yippie aye-aaa Lavender!!! YEHAH!

Birdbrains! That is not Mini. That is Mini-me! BWAHAHAHAHA! A good Sunday to you. I voted that it is not Mini but it won't accept my No vote. What a dictatorship, a rigged ballot. I was forced to vote Yes!

laughingwolf said...

check the bird link on my page....

Melissa said...

Awww, Mini!! I had to vote for "yes" because I just love stories about rehabilitated birds and animals coming back for visits. :) A friend of mine nursed a robin back to health and we all got used to her reappearing and landing on our heads!

Maria said...

I think it is MINI.

How do you manage to get so many good shots of birds? I have not seen so many birds in my lifetime ;)

Ces Adorio said...

This is such an emotional post. Did you tag her before you let her go?

laughingwolf said...

if she's semi-tame, that could be a tip-off?

Anonymous said...

It could very well be Simon! You can vote "maybe" in the sidebar poll to be different ;)

A good MONDAY to you Ces! I'm back to work but school holidays end tomorrow. Today will be a challenge. You are my first challenge! Hheheee

Errrm okay LaughingWolf, when I get there! Thanks, I can see your birdy link goes to this blog. Jack's badge isn't there yet ;)

YAY for your "yes" Melissa :) A fact is we have never had a Starling in our backyard before - apart from Mini ;) This bird also landed at my feet!?! Although, didn't stay long...

YES Maria! We just happen to have a lot of birds in Sydney. Especially compared to Vienna ;)

No tagging Ces. She was a 'wild' bird and we didn't expect to see her again. Just wished ;)

The bird wasn't semi-tamed or would have stayed longer LaughingWolf. I hope Mini wasn't semi-tamed.

Ces Adorio said...

I think it is Mini. I am trying to spoil the vote but I can't find it in my heart to vote no.

Anonymous said...

You can change your vote anytime until the poll closes Ces ;)

Ces Adorio said...

Eenie, Mini, Minie, Moe
I can't change my vote to No
Deep down in my heart I want it to be so
That it is Mini and not Minie Moe.

believe and it shall be so.

that's my contribution to the return of mini, which i might add gives me a tender lump in my sentimental throat.

you know, anon, this love and these bonds you have with mini and all other feathered friends gives you a free pass to heaven.

i'm glad i know you (kj cannot reign in her emotions...)

Anonymous said...

You are poetic today Ces!
No stress
Just take a guess
Your vote was "yes" ;)

You are being soppy KJ! I don't want to go to heaven but a different dimension with just as many challenges. Maybe the birds can fly me there. Stop blubbering and vote in the poll! Hhehee

kj said...

you and ces are twin sisters, anon....

Is that one comment each for us KJ? Can't you tell which one I am!?!

Annie Jeffries said...

I'm clueless so I went for the very safe "maybe". LOL Sweet pics.

Anonymous said...

Hhehee, I'm not sure that the "yes" vote is safe now, Annie ;)

YAY!

Anonymous said...

I was so busy reading the posts, I missed the poll. I would have voted "yes," however.

And bah humbug to whoever voted no. Perhaps they were confused by hanging chads, like in the last US presidential election.

Anonymous said...

Wren, that makes an even more definite "YES" then! The one 'twit' probably had the flu which is rife in Australia at the moment. That's NOT the bird flu HAHA :)

Unless someone else owns up...

Bimbimbie said...

Tsup*!* Oi!!! who you calling a grumpy twit Bwark ... I will only accept being addressed that way by non other than King Jack, and then I'll only half listen with my head cocked to one side ;)

Twas I who voted NO simply because
a) I'm a salmon who likes to swim against the tide and
b) because I've come to respect you're quite capable of tricking your readers into believing you 100% so I thought aha*!* Anonybird wants me to vote YES so I'm going to say no ... you made me do it *!*

Anonymous said...

Tsup*!* Tsup*!* HAHHAAA!!!! I was waiting for you to own up Bimbimbie!!! You were only suspected because under the influence of the dreaded mind bending flu. No excuses are necessary; we all know you are really a bird and NOT a salmon!!! Hhehheee*!*

Bimbimbie said...

Tsup ;)

So has Miss Mini got a fellow in tow, wouldn't it be fantastic if she nests right in your garden because she knows how safe it is to be ((Home)) sniff ... that's my cold not my emotional state of mind tsup*!*

Anonymous said...

Tsup*!* Bimbimbie! Unfortunately Mini arrived when there were two Kookaburras, Red Wattlebirds, a Butcherbird and new family of four Rainbow Lorikeets in the backyard. Who knows what she had to fly through to land on the grass! It probably reminded her of how NOT SAFE our backyard really is for her... :( *sniff* that's my emotional state of mind...

Bimbimbie said...

Tsup*!* I've just been reading and viewing Mini's early days with you ... no wonder she's found her way back to you your paths were meant to cross that day at the shopping center
car park ... I'm sure she will look in on you despite the other feathered bossy wings *!*

Anonymous said...

Tsup*!* Bimbimbie! Hhehee, Mini was very well cared for once out of that car park! We think she must have been checking up on us or our organophosphate and hormone free mealworm supply that day ;)
