Rapidwater Swimming

Gidday! What do you think about going over the edge?

It's a long way down!

If I flap my wings like this ...

... and position like that ...

Where did he go?

Looks like he went THAT way!

Extreme what?

He went rapidwater swimming BoiledEggInADeckchair!

What for?

Cheap thrills, BoiledEggInADeckchair. He must like hearing his heart pumping when struggling to not drown :) Maybe he was trying to impress the others...

he should say why he's doing it before he does it. Where did he go?

That might have cleared any confusion, BoiledEggInADeckchair. He went down the waterfall.

Never heard of Evil Knievil Mannikin?
Bah! Must be the same who went down the Niagara Falls in an Oak Barrel.
Too bad, you didn't get a shot, after you pushed him. Oups. I shouldn't have said that.
Cheers,mate!

HAH! I didn't PUSH him Klaus! My shoes would have become wet. He actually disappeared faster than the speed of light - or speed of a normal running river without a waterfall... ;)

Maybe he fell down the waterfall.

I don't think so BoiledEggInADeckchair. He flapped his wings like *this* and positioned like *that* and ... *!*

Now there is a bird I have not seen- A chestnut-breasted Mannikin!

:o)

Chest and nuts and breasts. This blog is getting risque. "Eeeek!" is what I said when I first saw it. I thought the birds were flesh and dead like the earthworm. John who was helping me install 2 GB of memory in my computer thought they were a woman's legs, go figure.
The birds look fine in the bottom picture and I clearly notice the absence of the third bird. Maybe Eggo is right. Splat! You were hallucinating. You did not see it fly away. It went Plop!

WOW! What a ride!!!

I'm pretty sure you've seen them Simon, they're in your "Brown Flitty" thing group :)

Ces, it is YOU who is hallucinating! Why did you splat EggHead? Hehhe. The Mannikin didn't fall, he jumped down the fall!

Ces Adorio said...

The Mannikin didn't fall,
he jumped down the fall!
Nice try,
But you are sly,
The bird did not fly,
I heard you cry,
Oh SPLAT!
It was not the Egg
but the bird who broke its leg.
Tra-la-la-la!

Never seen nor heard of this bird. But the comment coversation is almost as interesting.

"Where did he go?"
Probably escaped in s Chinese submarine like Harold Holt ;-)

simon said...

yes you are right! and I agree with Ces its all getting Risque!!

Baino said...

I'm with KJ you're all mad! But the mannikins are cute!

Good morning, nice to see that you are all well and twittering like good humoured birds!
I personally think that the mannikin was an avian stuntman practicing at the waterfall. Very rational explanation, isn't it?
Have a good day ;)!

OOOps! Almost drowned around lunchtime!

Ces, I'm hoping that was a lullaby because you were supposed to be asleep by then! Hope you didn't have nightmares after Tra-la-lahing about a bird breaking its leg!

Hello Louise :) These birds are very fast flitting about the edges of North and Eastern Australia. That is why you haven't heard nor seen them before. Unless you stumbled upon the odd feral colony in Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia or Fiji!

It might help to stand on your head KJ!

I have no idea where he went Alan! Could have been a sub but more likely he was eaten by a large carnivorous fish :O

Simon, it was Ces who made the comments risqué! Now you’re speaking French and adding to Ces’s naughtiness!!!

Baino, I have no reason to be angry today. REALLY! The mannikins are too cute for modelling in shop windows ;)

Good morning :) That explanation makes just as much sense Maria! Have some coffee!!!

Good morning, Good night.
Gone is the twilight.
The birds are fast asleep
Up the canyon deep.
Anon was not angry
But for lunch she was more hungry
The mannikin
and its kin
Are safe and alright
So goodnight

Bad poetry did not kill the birds either.

may i assume the soggy thing lived?

Maybe under the waterfall is a portal to another world. Maybe that's just another metaphor for death. Only the munchkin err, the mannikin knows for sure. Maybe he'll be reincarnated as a womanikin.

You always make me smile. This is one of the best.

Awww!! I love it!! How cute! :) And the water looks like a lot of fun whether you're a bird or a human! I agree with Annie -- you always make me smile.

Anonymous said...

Are you suggesting I hunted the Mannikins at lunchtime Ces!?!

You can assume anything you like LaughingWolf. Apart from me eating the Mannikins.

Errrrrmmmmm ... okay Debra Kay. I won't be able to prove your theory because don't photograph errrrmmm womanikins :O

Thanks Annie!!!

Melissa, it would be fun to be the same size as the Mannikins and have a rapidwater swim in the same environment :)
