Ordinary civil liberties such as dining this way have been suspended due to the influential young frolickers filling Sydney city this week. Time to SKY WATCH FRIDAY!

oh this is a brilliant set of pictures - I've heard about the Ibis but rearely seen any and your note about the pope reminds me I haven't checked Sally's blog out yet - she left a comment on my other blog which suggested the visit was causing changes in the city.

HAHA, your description of "changes" in Sydney sounds lighter than the Australian Ibis's lunch, Ackworth Born ;) Thanks for commenting :)

Great shot! Have a great weekend!

The ibis sure has a long bill. Such a regal-looking bird ought to be able to dine wherever he likes! LOL

simon said...

ooh! close up they aren't regal... especially when yu see what they eat..

Are you down on the harbour with the pontif anon? ahahahah!

kjpweb said...

Hah! And he snatched the Pope's lunch! ;)
This Ibis looks a bit like our Woodstork and if it were not for the bent bill, I'd have bet at least 12 -13 cent on it being one.
Cool pictures with a rather famous backdrop. Couldn't have been easy to arrange that. (Moving costs and all!)
Cheers, Klaus

Thanks ForThePeople :)

I agree YourEGTourGuide! Plus hope there isn't too much McDonalds left behind for the Ibis this weekend. They are giving it free to the pilgrims!

HAHAA, it depends which Ibis you are looking at Simon ;) NO I'm NOT down at the harbour until the pilgrims have gone! Couldn't even get there for all the traffic and lack of space. This photograph was just before they arrived...

Hheheeee, they do look a little like your Woodstorks Klaus. I have connections, this is a regular lunch spot of mine ;)

it's tastier than what I saw one day near here; two gulls dining on dead pigeon.

I’m not so sure ElizT, the pilgrims have fallen SICK from their McDonalds and hanging out in Sydney!! Pigeon might have been healthier...

Thanks TommyV :)

Ewok1993, the weather is very pleasant today, but many aren’t too well in this cold season. ACHOO!

Hahhaa, thankyou Rocky Mountaingirl. You don't have to wear a hanky over your nose where you are :))

Hhehe, no the pilgrims are being well looked after in Sydney hospitals LaughingWolf :)

Thankyou SandyCarlson! I tried to give a more than little perspective :)

Thanks Sandpiper Lin! The Ibis is indeed a beauty :)

HHAHAHA, there is NO restaurant Alan! I sit on the grass with a paper bag just like the Ibis does ;) We are BOTH not for eating! Hhehee

The third shot is my favorite where the bird opens its long beak. Now that is what I call a mouth.

I'd love to spend some time focusing in on different angles of the opera house. The ibis is a bonus.

Maria said...

Wow, really nice! Good idea!

Ah yes, forgot to mention that's Sydney Opera House in the background Imac ;) Thank YOU!

Hhehheee, that's a massive bill Ces! All the better to scavenge into the garbage bins with ;)

Thanks Lilli&Amp;Nevada :)

Now isn't the time right now Katney! There are LOTS of people surrounding the Opera House and throughout Sydney for the Pope's visit! The Ibis IS a bonus :)

Thanks Maria :)

I like these for the Ibis and the viewof the Opera House, but I also like the'arty' slant on this to... both the bill and the back of the Ibis echo the shapes of the Operra House... excellent.
Thank you for joining the sky watch team on their new venture… I hope you enjoy your sky watching and come back for more.

Thanks Tom, you've put a lot of thought into your comment and really 'saw' my photographs! The Ibis indeed is aesthetically complimenting the arches of our 'giant shells' :) Mostly, thank you for hosting Skywatch Friday!

It can be divine Melissa :) Looking forward to going back into the City next weekend. This one will be spent on the Northern Beaches ;)

No idea if the Pilgrims survived, LaughingWolf. Mwhahhhaaaa

Hhehee, like a concrete flamingo Louise?

Hi A! Welcome when you fly here :)

Thankyou Jenty and AnneKa!!

Hhheeee, I'm surprised you commented here Baino, with so many stinky portraits of the smelly Ibis:) Your dog steals the neighbours' papers? HAHAH! Must be extra busy on Sundays ;)

I Love that first picture and the curse of the ibis bill eching hte curves of the Sydney Opera House. But I'm stumped too. What IS that bird eating?

Anonymous said...

Great subject - the opera house makes for a fantastic skywatch theme. The ibis is a lovely and interesting extra!

laughingwolf said...

;) lol

dlyn said...

I really enjoyed these shots - great SWF!

Anonymous said...

Hhehee, the storyline is a laugh Lily Hydrangea. Apart from the pilgrims in hospital, especially if they are sick from eating the free McDonalds ;)

That would be one Big Mac and French Fries Annie ;)

Hehhee, thanks Wren! I was just lucky the Opera House was behind the Ibis and the sky was slightly interesting ;)

I always get the last laugh, LaughingWolf!

Hello Onedia Hayes Sylvest! Thankyou :)

Thanks Dlyn!
