and STILL hanging around the pool ...
Tsup*!* Did you see the Wild China show the other evening? Cormorants were shown fishing for their humans - they get rewarded with the smallest fish But one cheeky bird very smartly thought this wasn't on and took off with a bigger reward. lol Tsup *!*
Tsup*!* Tsup*!* Bimbimbie! Didn't see the show the other night but am aware of Cormorants fishing skills and great numbers helping humans in China! What a cheeky and greedy bird! Heehee :)
Tsup*!* They are really smart. Their humans tie string around the birds neck to prevent them eating the fish - they return to the boat with the fish in beak but if they consider the human is being too greedy and not rewarding the bird accordingly with the catch ratio it will refuse to dive back into the water until it receives it's reward. Obviously the cormorant that I saw was non too pleased with his human *!*
Your photos are so classy! The sheen on the wings, the staging of that group in the last lot, marvellous.
Tsup*!* I wouldn't be pleased if someone tied a string around my neck either Bimbimbie! Then stole my great catch!! I hope the other Cormorants were watching ... ;)
Thankyou ElizT! The Little Cormorant can't help but be classy with huge potential for cover work on glossy magazines ... :) The silver gulls also naturally shine like stars!
It dos'nt have any arms.
It doesn't have a Spaceship either, Belmattrons. However, the Cormorant can fly!
Has it got a big balloon?
No big ballon Belmattrons, and it doesn't have to be windy either because he has wings!
And they say oil is bad for a bird.
(the wild China show was great. It's a shame half that, Monkey Magic looking, landscape is now under water thanks to dam building.)
Heehee, it's okay if they slick their own feathers G3TFilms! I'll be sure to catch one of the six part series of Wild China on a Sunday night. Would you believe I'm actually preparing for work on Monday at that time. Sigh.
But whoever gave him the oil-slick he's been swimming in to get that colour is in a lot of trouble.
Hmmm, tell me about it. Sunday is a shoot day for me so I'll be digitising and fast cutting footage all night. Although, it IS a little easier for me to 'watch' the show as I'll be in my lounge room.
It's natural Cormorant oil G3TFilms! They exude it to swim like torpedos underwater!! I still don't have a second monitor in office to watch television when working on the computer. A tiny box in the corner of this one is too distracting. Santa ....!!!
Little cormorant, BIG feet! If he doesn't watch it ... I'm gonna snuggle him! I saw a bunch of teenage goslings today -- they look so goofy and cute with their fuzz that is turning to feathers. It seems like yesterday they were just downy fuzzers!
Hhehee, Melissa's snuggling Big Foot :) It probably was yesterday your goslings were downy fuzzers; birds grow fast!!
see what happens when i am away? I miss ALL these wonderful photos of birds! :o) good to see you still getting GREAT shots including the action shots of kestrels! Anon!
Thanks Simon, you've only been away for half a week Heehee. But you MISSED my Kestrel film!?!
I wonder where one can drill for cormorant oil? And if it's any better than regular oil for the environment... Hmmmm... Seeing as he's there, can you ask Santa? He would know about that sort of thing, surely.
Drip not drill G3TFilms! Perhaps the same way Emu Oil was obtained - throwing the bird over a branch of a tree :O Santa says you haven't been good and won't answer. He also says you'd better work harder for a new DSR-PD150P!
Arrrgh, don't say THAT! He is fixable!
If not: it'll be time to upgrade everything to HD so no new DSR-PD150P for me.
PS. Tell that fat bastard to kiss my ... whoa! Santa... Sorry dude, I thought she meant Satan!
Hhehheee, I see you have a lot of trouble and perhaps confusion about what's good and what's bad G3TFilms! Satan says he can arrange all those shiny new things for you
};-}
What a cutie!
No squeezing Caroline :)
But what if I want to squeeze Caroline? :)
You can squeeze the Little Black Cormorant G3TFilms ;)
But... but... I'd get covered in oil...
ewwwwwwww...
tasty though!
EWWWWW! Oil from emus is usually used for burns, arthritis, muscsle aches and pains. Cormorants aren't for eating G3TFilms! She WAS a stunner...
Where is his Mummy?
These photograph would look awesome on canvass against a white wall...
*sigh*
:-D
His tummy is a little fluffy to be a grown-up Miladysa :) They do have a grey tone about them with a gold glow .... perfect for clean white walls *hmmmmm*
No clean or white walls in this house Anon ... too many kids lol
Seriously though, your photographs would sell like hot cakes - you could open a blogshop. Do you have something similar to this in Aus?

{Delete this comment if you want Anon - I would have sent you an email but I could not see an email address}
No need to tell me about grotty fingers, spillage, food flicking and previously white walls, Miladysa Hahhahhaa! We do have shops that transform photographs to canvas. However, selling online isn't my style especially if cheap canvas mock-ups when real art is out there. I sound like a snob but from the old school before everyone was an 'artist'. Sell other mediums through galleries but photography will remain a hobby for a while yet ;)
