Tsup*!* Tsup*!* Bimbimbie! You're right! Especially with the darker, interlacing, mottled head feathers :)

Well, there is more under heaven and earth... I've never... Ibis are, like, white with black patches... that thing has been spray painted!

See, even I can spray paint and Ibis and pretend it's some special species.

HAHA, you're thinking of the lot more common around Sydney Australian White Ibis, G3TFilms! That's a great spray job you've done there. What shade is that? Well, I wouldn't really call it a 'shade'... :)

Why I do declare that colour has been called Scarlet.

And Scarlett's thinking: ...where shall I go? What shall I do?

And I'm thinking: Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.

Heehee G3TFilms, I think Scarlett would do nicely strung up as a curtain in my office ;)

wow, this bird is stunning. i love the deep rich scarlett hues (is hue the right word?) how big is this compared to a cat, anon?

:)

The description of 'hue' is probably more correct than 'shade'. I haven't seen one next to a cat, but it wouldn't be as fury and have more feathers :O Glossy Ibis range from 48 to 61cm and have a wing span of 90cm, KJ ... so a cat might run away!

Gorgeous!!! I love this bird -- the second to last shot is fabulous. It looks like you were only about two feet away -- lol.

How amazing!

HAHA, the only reason why I don't crop all the bird images like this is to show a little of their environment Melissa ;)

Amazing bird ElizT! You too ... :)

Well as I live and breathe I've never in my life seen one of these. Much prettier than their smelly white cousins. Now there's a bird I could wear to the Melbourne Cup as a fascinator!

Hmmm, a Melbourne Cup Hat with the same colour scheme could be classy and understated Baino, but with feathers that size ...HAHHAHHAA you would be tickling the horses!

LOL @ Baino

Glorious colours in that last photograph and if I can't have the real thing in my garden I would not mind a metal version based upon that fantastic third photograph!

BTW, I took a photograph of the rookery and posted it for you x

Beautiful! It would make a nice hat....

Amazing plumes! Love all the purples in it.

The third photo does sound popular Miladysa :) You took a photo of your rookery!?! I'll be right over after comments and coffee ;)

Somehow, I think that 'nice hat' would slip forward into your mouth Mademoiselle Princesse!

They could be described as plum purple plumes Albina :)

Unbelievable pictures! I would like to have a painting of the second one down... it is so gorgeous. Your pictures should be showcased in National Geographic!
