…or flying in dark and richly coloured whistling mobs – Wandering Whistling Ducks hang.

Beautiful tones Anon!

I saw a similar duck only the other day. There was no black on his/her head though, the head was fully blond. I have not seen such a duck in these parts before and what surprised me was its 'quack' sounded like a bark! lol

Miladysa, you having seen a blondie, it may have been a Plumed Whistling Duck but they do a spirited whizzing noise and don't bark! Hhahhaaa :)

Did you say Plum Duck? I like ducks!

I finally saw your Kestrel footage... really cool but are you sure it wasn't a Kite? I swear I saw a string.

Not plum duck G3TFilms! Finally ... I'm sure it wasn't a Kite unless you would like to argue otherwise! Actually, that Kestrel is very well known in this area and doesn't migrate when many others go North for the Winter :)

Beautiful images of a beautiful duck, Anon! Love the colours!!!

If the Kestrel is very well known, what's his name? };-} (Question from Mademoiselle Princesse)...
Mademoiselle is also asking what SCAT CAT means... Hhehehe... I think her English is not as good as mine...

Oh, sorry, I just had some images of Chinatown again... Mmmmm, Chinatown.

Oh, it's Kevin the Kestrel. Why do animals insist on names with illiteration?

Thankyou MerlinPrincesse, it's a beautiful and very colourful duck. There you go, that's Kevin Kestrel as G3TFilms from Sydney, Australia states! His wife uses ledges in the cliff to lay her eggs. Not G3TFilm's wife HAHHAA :) No wonder Madmoiselle hasn't got the message to scat for over a year now!!! You tell her!

Sigh. Go eat your lunch in Chinatown G3TFilms! I wouldn't call Mademoiselle MerlinPrincesse an "animal"!!

Tsup*!* Tsup*!* Bimbimbie ... Don't think the wandering and whistling ducks would appreciate thinking there's a WOLF close by! Oh no ... I must be the fun police!?! I DON'T WADDLE!!!!

But the ducks do .... naughty Bimbimbie! Tsup*!*

What sweet ducks -- love their coloring and the swirl of the water over the rocks. I saw three drake mallards on the creek this week ... it looked like a new-dads group paddling around discussing family, while the womenfolk sat on the eggs and tended the nest. :)

Seems it's that time of year for whistling and cooing . .very romantic. The wood ducks that have adopted my pool (about 20 of them) are all paired up and cosy. They don't whistle, they "waaaa"

Anonymous said...

Hhahhaa, there's new Dads' Groups for people now too Melissa! Wonder if they really were discussing the sharing of chores or sports?

"Waaaa"! That must be the male Wooducks making that noise Baino! Answering to the female's long drawn and nasal "Gnaw?".
