Wet, moulting and playing in a drain, this Emerald Dove is usually quite beautiful to see ...

It's the bird brain drain.

They can sometimes be difficult not to step on because like sunning on tracks Simon :) Then they go "Hoo-hoo-hoon" at you for disturbing them. You devil Simon!

It's the bird brain drain pain Modroom! In the rain ...

The bird brain drain pain, in the rain? That's insane!

Is it a female Emmerald Dove? I like to think she is.

I shall think of her as Dora the Drain Explorer. I love that she plays in drains, is damp and moults! There is such beauty to our Dora.

In my eyes, Dora is up there with the greats like Minnie, Jack, Lanky Larry and the Duchess.

Red Mojo loco.

The bird brain drain pain IS insane, Red Mojo! Can't explain but not mundane, please refrain from mental strain. HAHHAAAA

I'm afraid she's a male Miladysa, but he can still be 'Dora The Drain Explorer', such beauty to our Dora HAHAA. I will blog her later posing in the sunshine, glowing with so much beauty you won't recognise him/her - when we are hanging around the pool later ;)

Give loco Red Mojo a cocoa Modroom :)

we have a lot of Wonga pigeons around and white headed pigeons too.. they sit on the road a lot...silly birds

All the pigeons must do the same Simon. I photographed the fattest Wonga Pigeon I ever did see the other day ... but nowhere near water, so posted after the pool party ;)

Hmmm... male eh?

OK - his full name is Dorian but as he is Australian his mates know him as Dora ;-D

Wow!! I love the green! I'm going to go look them up to see them in full color. The mourning dove I thought flew into our yard yesterday looked a bit off ... so I watched it and it turned out it was a sharp-shinned hawk after a bird at my feeders!

HAHHAHAAA 'Dora' would still be knocked by his mates with a name like that Miladysa! Hhhehheeee

They'll be shown in full colour later Melissa, but it won't be a while :) OH!!!! Funny how 'off' birds can be wonderful surprises! Hope your bird at feeder escaped and he ate elsewhere though ...

Dubbo zoo has a white rhino called Dora and he's a bloke so . . .I can honestly say, I have NEVER seen one of these before. So much to learn . . I'm having a brain strain!

Baino, remember the first time I saw one when quite young, all excited about the emerald wings, then disappointed it was only a 'pigeon'. Still trying to love pigeons, so seeking out those who aren't feral ... I think people might laugh at that poor Rhino because of his name! Or call him "D" which is better but STILL a girl's name!

What you can't explain, is not mundane, and I rarely refrain from mental strain, but here I see it's all in vain.

Red Mojo, don't complain, that's brain strain you sustain and this isn't the right domain because pigeon terrain. Hhehheee

Still amazed at the variety of birds. Are there many because you look for them or you see them because they are everywhere?

We do have a large variety of birds in Australia and a lot of them, but in most cases I have sought them out on photographic expeditions Ces!
