A lot of work went into the Red Wattlebird's nest building, but it was all done before I finished pruning the garden for a clear view ... three days at the most! The photographs from the Introduction to the Spring Parade is where the final feather touches were added. Also, go see Lavender's Little Wattlebird nest, it is very different from the Red Wattlebird's nest! This one is mostly made from the branches of the Paperbark trees.

Good morning! I'll catch up with comments and visit you all by tonight :)
Don't forget to vote! *I'm voting for them all*
Great shots Anon! Boy these Reds like to build them high - and it looks like they need civil engineer training to do it! Tehehe Thanks for doing all that pruning so we could see this wonder!
Thanks Lavender :) They are messy builders, but just as well they used strong twigs because the nest had to survive a hail storm! They also did extensions later :)
wattle + {nest}x 1
= (ovoids)x ?
Apart from the nest actually being egg-shaped, you will have to wait to find out the number of eggs in it Terrain~9~ :)
Hailstorm - messy but sturdy! Good on em!
...ovoids... Good one!
I was very worried about the nest during the hail, but the family turned out to be safe and sound afterwards :)
I love bird's nests up in the trees. When a tree has a nest, it is a full tree. I love birds, I just don't want them pooping on my head. We have a tree in the backyard that has four or five nests and it is a very noisy tree, but I love it.
Nice nesting action. It reminds me a little of my place. Where did I leave that vacuum cleaner?
I voted! What fun! We just got back from a weekend away visiting my ailing grandmother -- she lives by the beach and when I was little had a sea gull named Oscar that came when she called. It was fun to walk the beach with the girls and spot sea gulls -- possible Oscar relatives!
That must be one heavy tree Ces! All the trees here are that noisy at the moment. They wake me just as the sun thinks about rising!
It's good you feel at home Red Mojo :)
Melissa, pleased you have returned :) OH, our fish named 'Devil' is an Oscar!
