Early

King Jack Even before 'bright' and early, the Grey-Butcherbird scans for his breakfast. Quite handsome with a glow from behind, even for a 'grey' bird, even for a Butcher! He is more beastly than The Beast! ... Jack

This fellow has been hanging around for a while now but also likes fresh fruit as does meat!

Look at that pointed beak! At first I thought it was Cookie! Do you have a nosiy backyard?

i thought it was cookie, too, cookie, my cosmic relative.

life in my backyard right now is grey and rainy. not a tweet to be heard.

Yes I have a noisy backyard Ces! The Butcherbird has a sweet singing voice though :)

He does look a lot like Cookie the Kookaburra, but a lot smaller and hooked beak, KJ. You can compare them when it's Cookies turn to strut his stuff! AHHH the sun is in my backyard now!

I think he is very handsome and I love thier song! In my backyard he goes for my plentiful skinks which I sometimes find impaled on twigs - thats one beak you wouldnt want to mess with!!!
GREAT shots again Anon!

HAHA, yes he does look like he's receiving messages from the sun Modroom! One message being, "It's time to hunt for breakfast".

We don't have many skinks here Lavender, maybe because of Butcher! I have grown rather fond of him :)

I am preparing a tasty dish for Butcher, if he can get to it. Hahaha!

You're so lucky to have so many different kinds of birds in your area and we're all lucky that you post their photos for us to enjoy!

There is a beast at my blog looking for you! Run, Anonbird, run!!!

Are you teasing my birds Ces? HAHAHHHAAAAA

I believe you Sharon! Hhehehheee

I am very fond now of this Butcher, Perriette. I don't RUN, I fly Perriette!!! Will eye from great distance soon as able to see what 'beast' I shall peck the eyes from!

Anonymous said...

There were no eyes to peck...hehehhee! He loves you now...kisses and nibbles from The Beast.

You are RIGHT Perriette! The Beast has no eyes ... so pecking his nipples instead! NO kisses and nibbles - thank you!

Turquoise is in his palette... :) What a nice bird... On the puffy side, though! Hhehehe.

Butcher is puffy because all excited about a hunt! I see turquoise too MerlinPrincesse, but the books call it 'grey'.

Anonymous said...

Are you hunting for breakfast Perriette?

The Beast shouldn't expose his nipples like an easy target then!

I was not talking about the bird, Anon.... :) Turquoise "corde à linge"....Hhehehehe. :)
