Australian King-Parrot

Another interruption to the Morning Range! Under Cookie's last post, Lavender described how her Little Wattlebirds chased off a King parrot yesterday. Neither of us have seen an Australian King-Parrot in our backyards before, however Bearman photographed this male with his phone yesterday! I wonder if it is the same one?

The females have green heads, so this is a male :) Bearman was at work at the time ...

Tis a hot head!

He does look rather warm Wizard Why! I don't think he was angry unless he doesn't like his photograph taken or mobile phones :)

Wizard Why said...

He is warm because he is in Australia. Not everyone has a mobile phone, including birds.

Two good points Wizard Why! I should ask you more questions why ...

Wizard Why said...

...I do not know why.

You must enjoy having a mobile phone then :) Knock me down with a feather Clever Trevor!

wow. the body of a pigeon and the beauty of king jack.

how come bearman's cell phone takes photos so superior to mine?

(she wrings her hands and screeches, 'it's not fair'. )

Anonymous said...

Not much about cell phones is fair KJ! Maybe it's just the King Parrot creating a superior illusion ;)

OUTRAGEOUS!!!! Youve gotta admitt, this is a little WIERD tehehe in a good way of course. Im gobsmacked, I wonder if they lost some territory or being spring perhaps time to find new mates...makes you wonder, doesnt it? And it is a superior phone/camera image too, Go Bearman! Thanks Anon!!!

HEEHEE Lavender!!! Maybe he was visiting all the Bird Lovers in Sydney whilst looking for a mate? They are supposed to live on the Eastern Coast of NSW, but I've never seen a wild one here before either. Maybe he was looking for a lost owner? I was thinking of doing a random AnonyFamily bird stalking post soon because the rest of them occasionally snap birds too :) It's catchy! Have a good day!

What was Bearman doing, having another cup of tea?

Anonymous said...

HAHAHHA, I was waiting for someone to point out how much work Bearman 'wasn't' doing Modroom!

captain modroom9 said...

It must be heavy work carrying a mobile. I bet he had to have a rest after taking the photo.

Anonymous said...

Hoohoo Modroom! I can see you carrying-on a pointed finger, that's very tough and brave at the same time!

captain modroom9 said...

I don't know what that means. I was imagining you still had mobiles the size of a brick in Australia that's all.

HAHAHHAAA we aren't that thick Modroom! Like some others ...

I was just talking about you BoiledEggInADeckchair! The parrot says "Hello" back because he's a parrot :)

BoiledEggIn aDeckchair said...

Parrots don't talk, everyone knows that.

*SIGH*

Just like dogs named Bruce BoiledEggInADeckchair!

*SIGH*!

Bruce is like me, he thinks a lot.

Which is more than SOME people seem able to do.

Goodbye.

Anonymous said...

No, that's an Australian King Parrot, Perriette!!!

Don't worry Lavender, it's just a Goody! I love a good mystery ...

Oh my what a gorgeous bird! These wild birds are amazing!

Anonymous said...

He really is gorgeous Ces! Next time it will be Lavender or I photographing him ;)

Oh by the way, whatever this architecture that this bird is perched upon, even though very little is revealed, I like it. If it is a house, it's beautiful. Look at that porch at the tree canopy level. I always love that.

Anonymous said...

This is pretty much a standard house when built on a hill in the Lower North Shore of Sydney, Ces. Probably built in the 60s, most of our homes have balconies, porches or verandahs :)

Ces Adorio said...

Well, I love this standard, attuned to nature and I will find myself in that balcony everyday!

Anonymous said...

A large part of our culture is enjoyed on balconies! Hheheeee, throw a prawn on the barbie Ces!

ElizT said...

Not sure I like the idea of your whole family snapping up the beautiful birds, is there a prawn shortage?

Sharon said...

What an amazing sight to behold!

Anonymous said...

Hhahahhahaaa, have a prawn ElizT! Maybe you'd prefer and kangaroo sanga?

It was indeed Sharon! I was very pleased with Bearman's photograph :)

Lavender said...

Fingers crossed Anon that your prediction we will get our shots comes true - but Ive really enjoyed Bearmans shot!

Anonymous said...

I can't wait until Bearman sees all these comments about his photograph Lavender :) We WILL get to photograph one ourselves ... see what happened about our wattlebirds? (You will see my wattles eventually heehee).

Cool pic! :) Nice bird. I wish we would have some parrots here! They would be wonderful in the snow! :)

Anonymous said...

You wouldn't be able to see them in the snow MerlinPrincesse because snowed upon! Hheheheeeee. They really don't look suited to colder weather which is why they live here on our Eastern shores and not there :)

He looks embarrassed. Maybe he doesn't like his name bandied about by an egg.

Anonymous said...

Catnapping, it's true BoiledEggInADeckchair shouldn't have said "Hello" like a parrot does! Now go take a nap..

HARDWAX said...

I'm reminded of Christmas looking at this bird. Beauty!

Anonymous said...

They should have used these birds instead of Doves to symbolize Christmas, Hardwax. Although, they aren't very peaceful being Parrots :)
