Butcherbird is just reminding us about his performance with a fish in the Morning Range. A stage hog!
can you make jam from fish?
Mr Butcherbird can 'not cat'! I'd watch out ... he might think you're a fish if not a cat :)
I dont mind seeing him again, he is so handsome! And with these clear shots of him, I can stare all I like! He cant fly away now, can he? Tehehe
He's a regular now Lavender! The clothes line is more his than Cookie's! He is also very flighty ... at first he would fly away as soon as I stepped out with camera, but now he knows it isn't a weapon :)
on behalf of cookie and myself, we want the clothesline back!! mr. butcherbird is too pushy, he doesn't share his toys, and we're not sure about his grooming habits.
as you know, i am cookie's advocate. scat, butcherbird.
KJ, I'm sure Cookie appreciates your support :) However .... you have forgotten there is a Mrs Cookie Kookaburra now!
That's a fish? Whew... I thought it was a giant bug. I feel better now. Guess butcherbirds aren't too popular down there. Why not?
Butcherbirds butcher birds Down Under TsDuff! Like tiny helpless baby ones which are all over the place now!!! A fish might save one's life ...
Well, a bird's gotta eat now don't they? I'd say Eagles and Falcons do the same, as do our friends of opportunity the corvids... it isn't mean, just programming. You can see I'm a bit biased... :)
Hhehheeee, you ARE biased TsDuff! That's Jack who told Butcherbird to scram, not me - he's comparing the show and always lets me know when the Butcher is about by screaming very loudly! I love Butcherbird no less than the others ... apart from the Noisy Miners :) And the big fat Pigeon!
I'm with Jack, I say Scram! When I was in California I had a pair of Verios (sp?) that nested in a tree in front of the kitchen window. The first two years I watched them build the nest, and later feed their babies. I would inevidably come home one day to find the babies killed. It broke my heart. The third year, after the nest was complete I hung an enclosure around it, with wire the tiny birds could get through, but no predators. I finally got to see the babies fledge. :)
mrs. cookie. oooooooohhhhhh.
:(
I'm pleased your tiny birds survived with a little help from a friend Red Mojo! Haven't heard of Orioles or Verios, so if you get an image let us know :) Jack would like that!
Oh dear, Mr Cookie has broken KJ's heart. Or was that me .... ?
Sardine! I want that sardine or is that anchovy? Yum yum!
Please serve that anchovy with pizza. Hahahaha!
It isn't a sardine or anchovy Ces! It's a Flaming Guarami. You will have a flaming belly-ache if you try to eat it!!
Two of my favorite things... Fish and noisy birds! Anony, you sure know how to make one's day};-}
Yummy fishes! Have you seen that funny photo that gets emailed around of a bird with a fish in its mouth, and the fish has a really surprised "OH NO" look on its face. I think it's photo-shopped, but it's still funny.
Thanks for dragging yourself here Joy Eliz Hhahhahhaaaa
};-}
No haven't seen that email Melissa, but I assure you the fish was dead before Butcher found it :) (Bearman killed it somehow!)
Poor Bearman, he gets blamed for everything. :-)
Hhehehheeee, no JACK gets blamed! Not this time though, Ces :)
Perhaps Bearman hit the fish with a hammer?
Joy Eliz, we still aren't sure what he did but the fish were dead before they left the water!
Dead before they left the water!?
I hope he doesn't bring home dinner that way.
Enjoy your lamb screaming on a slab for dinner tonight Joy Eliz ;)
your photographs amaze me..... this guy has such a personality and you catch his expressions sooooo very well...
well done... :)
Thanks Janice. Mr Butcherbird needs a bit of help in the bird poll ;) Thanks for visiting!
