Little Pied Cormorant is still going ... want a hug?

You must have some sort of birdy charm Anon - birds just seem to love doing thier thing for you!
Heres a question, once in awhile you hear the expression "Like a shag on a rock"....is shag (the birdy kind!) another name for cormorant?
:)

Yes Lavender, from what I know, the 'shag' from that expression DOES mean a cormorant! This morning is apparently the coldest Sydney morning for 21 years ... 4 degrees in the east and -1 in the western suburbs!

Aha! Mystery solved - Thanks Anon!
Im western suburbs, and let me tell you - ITS COLD - heavy heavy frost and lots of NRMA vehicles circling around LOL

Although ... it depends on where the expression originated. If in Australia (most likely not) it could also mean a 'loose woman'! She was probably named after the Cormorant - both are exhibitionists. I really should research before I answer HAHAAA :) I'm still in pyjamas sitting next to a heater ... yes in my office during office hours! Luckily don't have to drive anywhere .... brrrrrr. Hot chocolate?

Why am I expecting a music montage?

ESP Joy Eliz :) Although, I'm still afraid of being fined for ignoring copyright laws ... could be a while ... or even without music. Blah.

I forgive your quick answer, and appreciate your follow up one - I just got out of the pj's and rug look, well, actually, Im still rugged up - I hovered over the little heater like my life depended on it this morning ---
hot chocolate eh? How would a shot of brandy go in that?

Lavender, I just read my follow-up answer and a 'shag' is actually the act of what a man can do with any woman. "She's a good shag" is the expression. Maybe, Cormorant's performance is more than just drying his wings! My brain has frozen from the cold ... just recovering from getting changed and contemplating about how warming the washing up water could be. Brandy sounds better - THANKS ;)

Lavender said...

Ah yes, as in 'fancy a shag?' as well then.....HAHAHAHAHA
It really is brutal when washing up sounds like a good idea! Brandy - STAT!

Nigel Powers wasn't around when that phrase was first asked Hhehheeee. Two seconds Lavender, I know it's painfully long ... let me spread out the warm laundry from the dryer, we can hide under those with our brandies!

Hot from the dryer Yummo! With a brandy, I just might fall asleep, wouldnt that be nice? How long do you think Id get before someone wanted dinner - in fact, Im carefully ignoring kitty Aurora who has been giving me the treatment for about 45 minutes now, argh! :)

How about the length of finishing off this brandy bottle! Hhehheeeeee. LET THEM STARVE!! Oh no ... Jack will scream my brain out but better than letting it FREEZE!

Lavender said...

I bet Jack gets very loud when he is waiting - Aurora's not loud but she is soooo persistent. Theres dry kibble in the bowl, but she wants the fancy stuff - she does such an act of starving to death - Itd be funny if it werent so annoying LOL!

OH MY we just had a BLACKOUT! Others had no power for six hours TODAY! Lavender … where are you!?! There is a slumber party in front of our gas stove if your power has gone!

the act of what a man can do with any woman???

as in: adore? arrange shopping sprees? passionate love? or,

is it acts of singnificantly lesser virtue?

:)

ps i can't believe your weather. i hope it warms up. it's hard for me to get past my perfect sunny day...

We were talking about "shagging" KJ! Hhahhhahhaa. Cormorants are also named Shags :) PS: My fingers are almost frozen to the keys; typing as fast as possible so they don't stick!

Today’s CHILL!

Our homes are just NOT equipped for this weather! Until now, believed we had two weeks of 'cold but dry' in Winter. It has been nothing but rain and freezing! The wind is normal but not with such low temperatures. I have to go out this afternoon for several hours, standing in a que, in a non heated gym, to interview over a dozen teachers. It will cripple me!

Jack warms one side of my neck KJ heehee :)

This is very confusing. I knew I'd seen this but couldn't find my comment. Now I see there is another post just like it. Is this a trick?

Yes, it was just to trick YOU Perriette! Didn't work ... this time ...
