Rainbow Lorikeets have very tight families. I should take more photographs of these two before they grow up, Lavender :) They are squeaking for porridge right now! Three meals a day seem a little excessive when their parents are there!
They know they are onto a good thing there with you! I bet thier parents appreciate the help.

I notice that their plummage is nit as fine or smooth as Jack's. First of all is that because they are babaies and secondly is it because they are wild?
I know very little about birds but what I know is that some birds have exemplary behaviour in terms of caring for one another. I like the story of the flight of the geese, for example. Alas there are birds who are awful just like humans, those who replace another mother's egg of their own, usually the big birds...
Anyway, too much talk about other birds.

Lavender, all these extra birds have stayed since the storms. They were here when it rained, but usually not when it stopped. Perhaps they know more storms are on their way!
Ces, Jack is a Red-Collared Lorikeet who is meant to be flying in a much warmer climate at the top and Western Australia; not a Sydney Rainbow Lorikeet. Also, Jack wouldn't have grown his full winter plumage because spends his nights in the house. Babies are also extra fluffy :) OOOH, a present for Jack!
I am seeing the differences. These birds have yellow green collars and blue feet. Very interesting about the winter plumage. Oh the things I learn about the birds! My MIL loved birds especially hummingbirds. My husband loves birds and spots them.
i just cannot imagine having colors and families like this in your backyard!!! (say it another hundred times, kj).

Heehee, Jack also has a red chest and emerald green tummy - he is proud of the emerald because the Rainbow Lorikeets don't include emerald in their rainbow colours! Ces, maybe you and your Husband could make a special bird stalking walk early one morning. Or take one child at a time with you ... that's what I do :) Jack LOVES his portrait!!!!!
I don't know about ALL species and how they kiss KJ :) I think Jack keeps his eyes open a lot of the time because checking out my teeth ;)
