We all saw Puffin the Rainbow Lorikeet having a laugh at the start of the Midday Variety in the Spring Parade! However, Puffin doesn't have a huge lot to laugh about because she's once again showing signs of Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease. Her feathers are appearing broken and abnormal. Anon first met Puffin at her old house. Puffin had just been released back into the wild because her flight feathers were 'imped', where-in new feathers are implanted into her wings and tail, enabling her to fly again. The unusual shaped beak is a damaged result from when she was a baby with the disease ... but Puffin is a survivor! She even found Anon after she moved! ... Jack

I love how these lorikeets always look like they are laughing. I can just hear it, "Bwaahaaa!" I hope she makes it okay -- she looks like a trooper.

Happy birthday Anon! I believe that lorikeets are the only bird that fully recover from beak and feather disease . . or so my Wires lady told me. Shame they ge it at all, the're so photogenic and this one looks like she doesn't mind being the star attraction!

Thanks Baino! There is a high success rate of lorikeets recovering from the disease, but like Puffin they are also prone to a reoccurrence. She'll be right!
