Extension

Fifteen days after sitting, extensions were done to heighten the nest and a tiny orange beak began to pop into sight when being fed!

Congratulations. It must be twins from what I can see.

You need new glasses Mr Totties! That's a baby bird and a leaf you're looking at. Partly explains how all your buses crash ...

Hhehhehheee, Mr Totties you are better at crashing buses than bushes *sigh*

Hooray! Baby Red Wattle bird - GREAT SHOTS Anon....I wonder if all Red Wattle birds do this height extension thing once the chicks hatch, or if this is just an eccentric pair....most curious!

I could hear sweet chirping long before seeing its sweet face Ces :)

It's interesting how the nest was built where there were many new leaves shooting too Lavender. By this time, the nest was almost covered with leaves around its parameter. I'd imagine there was still a 'hole' above which is where the extended sticks were placed. Most probably just the right spaces between the extension for a wattlebird to fit through and nothing larger :)

Sounds like a good plan Anon, and reminds me of a fortune cookie I got once: Those who envy the freedom of birds, have never tried to build a nest...I kept that once since I thought it was really good advice!
I would have been crazed with curiousity to hear them and be stuck on the ground wondering about them - Very happy this one peeked over while you were there with your camera.

This pair brought up a Cuckoo a couple of years ago, so perhaps with time, they have developed a Cuckoo Fort! Heehee. Also haven't seen them eat meat lately which is a good sign they are thinking like Wattles and not Cuckoos again! Did do some climbing (to a certain degree) but knew with time any baby necks would stretch with size :)

These are happy sweet pictures. That cute little head, and I wonder what the world is planning for him or her. Love these photos

Will you be giving this baby a name?

This is just the beginning of baby photographs Perriette. Spring is springing all over the place. Even outside my bedroom window!

Fall is coming you upside-down anonymous person you!!! A-u-t-u-m-n!! No more spring and summer with floods and 103-111 degree temps for me!!!
Ah,the truth be known, I love fall but I wish I could see your spring and baby birds too. All of ours died this year, so very sad.
Enjoy it for me and I will drool over your pics...it makes it all better for me, if you know what I mean. Life goes on!:)

No falling down, just springing upwards in these parts (apart from severe bush fires) LDahl! If you drool long enough we might get rid of that drought problem we have ;) Life does go on and it's great to see you again!
