The introduced Mallard is a large, dabbling, flat billed duck that goes “QUACK”! Note, this one has no legs!

In Sydney it was first introduced before 1900 and is now widespread in eastern New South Wales. This duck is partly a Mallard.

The bill is supposed to be yellow plus the legs and webbed feet, orange.

Mallards are commonly found with other water birds and freely interbreed with other species.

Hence the four eyed duck. Heehee.

This could be a female Chestnut Teal with mottled brown, but isn't.

This could be a Hardhead duck with pale blue bill on the tip and chocolate colours - but isn't.

Won't be photographing Yuckey Duckeys like this again!
These are just absolutely beautiful. I love mallards. I saw a lot of them up north.
We have mallards here! Yours are wonderful. :) What a party. Those birds are all Geminis?
So they all came from up North of Ces? :)
Oh, they all came from MerlinPrincesse's house! These birds celebrate their birthdays twelve months a year MerlinPrincesse! They have a party every day when park people visit which isn't very good for their health!
I said up north because I have never seen them here down south - my south which would still be your north.
Our North, which is MerlinPrincesse's house Ces!
Okay, MerlinPrincesse's house then. But surely not the birds from your area? It's too far.
Yes the birds in my area Ces! They were introduced here in 1862 but their natural range is across the Northern Hemisphere from the Holarctic region to Hawaii! Which is MerlinPrincesse's place heehee.
Mallard Ducks live here too. They're everywhere because of cheap flights.
That's not surprising BoiledEggInADeckchair when you freely offer to chuck things - that Deckchair must be cheap comfort for the Mallards because don't need to use their wings either!
Mallard are in Vancouver too! I've seen some there! :) And I DON'T live in the HOLARTIC! *wherever it is* I live in Quebec City wish is at the same longitude as Paris... But our weather is more like Moscou... That's the problem with Easterners like us.... The last ducky is a yummy-ducky said Mademoiselle Princesse to moi a few minutes ago... :))))
No wonder some of these mallards have an Australian accent!!! I don't know why they don't live in the tropics like the expatriates. It would save them a lot of flying time. Oh I know, they'll get eaten!
Anon, I went to ShutterWorld and I can find over fifty images that you have posted that would be lovely for the bird theme. But you know what? Yours is the "The Bird" blog.
I love...mallard ducks!...
Especially when I cook them...So yummy yummy.....!!!
Holarctic is North Pole to 30-45° latitude. I thought you lived in an igloo MerlinPrincesse! SCAT cat!
They are supposed to spend Winter in sub-tropics of the Americas and south-east Asia Ces! Strongly migratory birds, but Australian populations appear to be more sedentary... yes, it would be difficult to choose just one image for Shutterworld, although was thinking of posting out of focus 'Give Me Food now!' image :)
Aunty Rita! You won't be invited to the next barbecue Eater Rita!
Mallard ducks are duck-faced bats.
Haven't seen a Mallard hanging upside down BoiledEggInADeckchair and Wood Ducks nest in trees!
Oh that is perfect!
Calling Mallards 'Duck faced bats' or chosen image Ces? Heehee. I'll try to sharpen it up a bit being slightly out of focus first ...
Tired of all these ducks. Wanna see some Jack antics (and list...ahem) and updates on Cookie and Baldie.
Can you hear me?
Already said I'm not posting Yuckey Duckeys again Perriette! You read my mind ... don't need to do the new posts after all ...
Okay.
