Red-whiskered Bulbul

Can you see the flickering white specks way over in that scrub? We heard them first. NO not the two dark blobs! Take a closer look.

Red-whiskered Bulbuls! Native to southern Asia, these birds were introduced to Sydney in 1880.

They have a head that looks like a fin of a dolphin - or a shark!

Friends with a Spotted Turtle Dove. Wonder if it's because they are both outsiders?

A new weather system is moving up the coast to Sydney by Saturday. Thunderstorms, rain and wind are predicted, with rain confined to the coast! We are on the coast!! SO, I might go missing again .... blah!

Since no one is talking about the birds, I will. These are pretty attractive birds, of course I know nothing about them. I love the red color on the tail's underside (if that is an appropriate term.

They are very attractive birds Ces! People here don't realise they are in fact introduced from Southern Asia. The reddish part of the bird is called 'under tail' Ces, it converts into a log white tipped tail - very exotic :)

Ces Adorio said...

Oh I was not far off with the under things. They are pretty indeed.

Anonymous said...

Isabella might have under things very similar Ces :)

kj said...

anony, that is a very funny comment. !

:)

Anonymous said...

Not as funny as Isabella not having under things KJ :)

Ces Adorio said...

Hey! Isabella has underthings and not only that, they match!

Anonymous said...

They match the under tail of the Bulbuls Ces?

Ces Adorio said...

No! the set matches not with the "Bulbul", which by the way in my language is a very obscene word and something that needs to be covered with an underwear, I am not kidding.

kj said...

it always comes down to whether or not one's underwear matches. i seek the quiet solitude of birds and i am yet again forced to deal with my underwear drawer. oh anony, oh ces--life is too difficult sometimes.

and, oh, anony, i hope your weather is better. i would love storms like you describe but i;m sure they can be very damaging. i hope all is well with you.

REALLY CES? Hhahhahhahhaaaaaa. I love that word now, might throw it at you every now and again. Your cheeks match the red of the winged Bulbuls! :)

Quiet solitude of birds KJ? Sometimes there are so many, that are so loud, I can't function! Or are you talking about a Bulbul without wings? The wind is ferocious right now and not a bird in sight - although the sun isn't up yet :) Think there might be a Noisy Minor taking refuge in the laundry.

Ces Adorio said...

Hahaha!!! Oh my gosh, I can't even say that word now but it has no cheeks. Oh I am not talking about it anymore. I don't think it is that obscene. One can always shave it.

Birdie camouflage. Nature is very clever, but not clever enough for Anonybird.

Are you saying Bulbuls are better BALD Ces!?! Heehee.

Anonybird has the eye of an eagle Perriette :)
