The Kookaburras tend to laugh in the faraway Norfolk Pine. Might at least get a sound recording. Maybe we aren't funny enough :)

Hmmm, maybe they only laugh when they think no one is looking? On the occasions that Ive been able to see a Kooka, they are always sitting there doing NOTHING just like in your vid! Teheheheh But off in the distance I can hear them laughing....hopefully not AT me :)
More great shots Anon!

That's right Lavender! Also yesterday morning (very early haha) they were laughing away in the distance (you would at least have seen the tree they're in) and as soon as my camera was rolling - SILENCE! They had seen me! HAHAHHHAAA Thanks Lavender :)

What a life! I want to be a Cooka! :)

Okay, I'll try that Simon, but it will be before 7am in the morning (only two visit this backyard in the afternoons) and the neighbours already think I'm potty calling "Mini" every day! HAHA.

Doing nothing or laughing would be fun, but I'm sure it can be difficult sometimes finding lizards for dinner MerlinPrincesse :) Hhehheee.

Yep, that's nothing alright. It did make me laugh though. I don't think that's ever been caught on tape either!

I was a little lucky because the wind was blowing, otherwise you all would have thought the film was a photograph! Hmmmm, an idea for a new Red Mojo post? HAHAHHAAA

I know you love Cookie KJ :) Maybe he isn't laughing because you claim to be a relative? Hhahhahhaa

I think he has to go in my top ten list of favourite birds!

Miladysa, he was voted second favourite in the 'Midday Variety' of the Spring Parade, just behind the Rainbow Lorikeets :) What's your favourite?

Capturing a Zen Master on film! Maybe he's waiting for you to make a sculpture of him, it seems feasible.

I love when watching old black and white 'jungle' movies like Tarzan and Lost Tribes, there's always a Kookaburra laughing in the background of what's supposed to be deepest darkest Africa.

They are practised in the art of being still, I have to admit! Wait till the rain clouds roll in, he'll crank up the giggles then for sure!

Ces Adorio said...

Oh what a lovely bird! How often do you hear it's laughter?

Anonymous said...

YES Baino! HAHA Kookaburras are NOT Kings of the Jungle, always good for a laugh :) The trick is having Cookie giggle in my backyard and not blocks away when I can only see a tiny silhouette in a tree ...

Ces, I hear Kookaburras laughing almost daily but they are usually a great distance away. Trucks, sirens and jackhammers can usually be heard louder.

Mini on your blog :)

In my garden it has to be the robins. I know you are only supposed to have one per garden but it appears they forgot to tell the clan that visit here!

AWWWW that's so sweet Miladysa! Lets hope we can work out what type of bird Mini is :) Robins are pretty birds, you are very lucky to have a whole clan claiming your garden as their territory! They must feel loved there :)
