How do you do it? I think I need a camera like yours - my photographs are soooo pathetic in comparision. I don't mind though - I am always delighted to see yours hee hee
So, it is a white mallard is it? I thought it was a domestic duck that had made a run for it.
Aww I don't know my teals from my black ducks! You're right about them being prolific at the moment. We've even got clutches of ducklings around which is a bit late in the season.
Your photographs are NOT pathetic Miladysa! I do often crop an image to bring the subject closer mostly so bloggers can see the birds in the tiny size blog photos are posted HAHA. Most of our Domestics are inbred with Mallards and our Mallards are the domestics; they were all introduced from England in the 1860s :)
Ooops didn't see you there Baino! You do now Baino and can recognise a Wooduck! Are your ducklings in the swimming pool?
The difference between Grey Teals and female Chestnut Teals is the most difficult I've come across in regards to identifying birds apart, Simon! One reason why my list only consists of birds that have posed in clear photographs :) Wait until you see my fricken fuzzy wrens after the pool party! HAHA!!
I love the top one -- what beautiful red eyes! I'm not so good at identifying the duck-ish birds around here. You're inspiring me to do better this year!
Their eyes are beautiful Melissa, you see the details :) I like it when there are challenges with bird stalking, mine is still wrens and smaller fast birds, but suppose those will always be a challenge to capture on camera HAHA!
Good news Simon, the lizard's pink tongue was a giveaway! I think we should just own up and say ALL birds are difficult to stalk and a HUGE amount difficult to identify, especially if escaping a person's stalk by flying away or being in the far distance :)

Still not absolutely sure these aren't female Chestnut Teals. They are supposed to be more common than the Chestnuts, so chances are ...
Wow, you sure do have a vast variety of duckies there!
We do tend to have a lot fly into Sydney this month for the Mardi Gras, Red Mojo ;)
Wonderful!
