More of an Australasian Darter to celebrate my online quota being restored :)

woohoo, quota! What a striking bird. Just beautiful! Is it sitting on a wooden wing?

WOOHOO quota YES!!!! That is a wooden wing Red Mojo but I was trying to photograph the real thing! I will photograph the wooden sculpture just for you next time I'm in the same location (you being a talented woodworker) I love the way the light hits the Darter's feathers producing geometrical design :)

What an amazing bird!

Dramatic indeed -- wow! What gorgeous shots -- I can count the barbs on the feathers! Beautiful work, Anon, and congrats on the quota. :)

Stunning. I'm amazed that the pattern is from light-on-black, thought it was white on the feathers. It reminds me somehow of Wallis Simpson; her clothes or her jewellery.

Wow it had me fooled I was about to say I didn't realise they had such an intricate design on their wings and back! Fantabulous shots Anony! Just lovely. Right . . bang the gong . . we are on!

YEEHAAAH! I walked into the door haha. It IS an amazing bird Miladysa!!

Thankyou Melissa, the sun was the right strength and in the right direction for showing those barbs :)

SO DRAMATIC MerlinPrincesse!!!

Black birds are difficult to photograph but this one is my most successful so far ElizT. Darter doesn't even have frizzy hair shown up by simple but striking design of attire ;)

Thanks Baino, I know where you're going this weekend! Hhehheee ;)

Hhahhaaa, thanks Onedia! Watch out, when you drop your jaw in Australia, you catch flies!

The Anhinga is so similar to your Darter... they must be cousins. You take such amazing photos!

Anonymous said...

I agree TsDuff, VERY CLOSE Cousins! The only difference I can spot between the photos is the white facial streak on the Australasians :)

It's very dramatic and darty. Where did it dart from and to??

Anonymous said...

If you ignore the Darter in the post below as a different one, it darted from the lagoon on the outskirts of Sydney to the middle of the city Modroom :)
