Perches

Jack's new perches are made from fallen branches. Eucalyptus oil from the bark is a germicide that stops foot diseases for Australian birds. Irregular and different sized perches aid in the exercising of Jack’s feet. This ensures muscle condition and his coordination doesn’t deteriorate.

Links, metal chains, eyelets and connections for toys and furniture are sometimes made of zinc metal, which is extremely toxic to birds. They are best stainless steel. For Jack’s perches, we used two stainless steel fender washers, a hanger bolt and wing nut on each end. The metal content of the bolt and nut are safely out of reach on the outside of jack’s cage.

One perch has a coconut cubby house attached. After emptying insides of shell and a good wash, it was baked in an oven for two hours at 140 degrees Celsius. This is to ensure the outside of the shell is safe from pre grocery store fumigation and it is completely dry for Jack's chewing and nestling.

A ramp branch declines to Jack's new stainless steel luxury bath. He can dive into it from any height he wishes!

Only a few more chewing toys to make and Jack will enter his Castle!

He's got a 5 Star castle waiting for him, can you build one for me and send it?

Jack is one lucky bird.

No, I don't want to build you one and send it Modroom. It would mean I miss out on next season's wardrobe too! Although, the Castle itself was bought from eBay for less than a quarter of its retail price. Jack and I are very good bidders.

Have you found a feathered hat to join him Perriette? Your teacup won't do in Jack's Castle:)

Hhehehee, Princesse would probably fall off the perches MerlinPrincesse :)

We're building an outside, Oh I don't know, could call it an enclosed cat deck or habicat. It's meant to be a safe place for them to feel closer to the natural world, but still be safe. I realized as I looked at the photos of Jack's place and read the great care that has gone into the preparing of Jack's place that his is a lot nicer than our cats thing is going to be They're not going to have a luxury bath nor a coconut cubby house attached, or unattached. Oh well, anyway, a beautiful thing.

Sorry Jack, "castle" then.

That was a quick correction Hardwax, Jack might have thrown his crown at you :) Your cats wouldn't like a luxury bath because they don't even like getting their feet wet, and the coconut cubby would only serve as a space helmet which would be alright if they were in space or something unsafe were to knock them over the head. Considering you are building something safe, I'm sure your Habicat/cat deck/thing will suit them far better than Jack's Castle. I hope you are doing a better job than our Cheruboy who built a treehouse that fell down with him in it the other day :)

By the way Hardwax ... is it the birds your cats need protection from?

Good idea Joy Eliz! I'm already trying to squash Perriette into this Castle, so take your time...

Don't leave me in there with Hardwax! Put Joy in instead.

If you insist on wearing a crown Perriette, I'll make the Castle private quarters for you and the King of the Castle JACK! Heehee.
