More

Four.

And more!

A flock of pelicans work together driving fish into a concentrated mass using their bills and sometimes beating their wings. The fish are herded by being surrounded in ever decreasing circles.

Plus more!

OH GOODIE Ces! Run over to Perriette's, there's a place for you over the litterbox. Gravy needs some flavour added to it :)))) Be careful of Egg, he will shake you up and down if you don't hurry ...

Anony... It is sooooo obvious that these birds are NOT herding fish but practicing a sychronized swiming dance! Traaalaaalaaa Traaalaaalaaa!

Ooops, hang your head over the edge Ces!

I was trying to be educational Joy Eliz and won't bother any more. Oh hahhahhaaaa, you're very good at synchronised swimming; can't tell which one is you apart from the peg on your nose :)

Try to get your feet wet Mademoiselle Princesse Heehee.

Needing to leave an 'unfinished' image is a good sign (again this week's IF word :) Janice. Pelicans are big birds and not as fluttery as small ones but do move their feathers about, as does the wind. Plenty of poses here :)

Like a floating flotilla funnelling the fish into their froats. It's great the way different species have their own way of doing the things they do. I wonder who thought of it.

That's Fred you're talking about Modroom, plus he heard you and isn't pleased you forgot about him! He's also upset I'm asuming he's a man. Once something is caught, a floating flotilla draws its pouch to its breast, empties the water and manoeuvres the prey into a swallowing position. We had better GoHatGoGo Modroom!

I do like these pelicans. Pink, black and white. So art deco.

Do they throw fish at people?

Joy Eliz said...

ppppfffftttt! I splash water at you!

You're not allowed to stuff one for your lounge room Perriette!

No they don't throw fish at people BoiledEggInADeckchair. They have been known to swallow things people throw at them. Watch your deckchair ... you might lose it!

Lets bury Joy Eliz under the sand!

I have birds like this in my backyard, they're just smaller, and they enjoy the creek.

Do you throw things at them Hardwax or bury them under the sand?
