This Common male Koel is a migratory species that arrives in Australia from south-east Asia to breed in spring. It is a type of cuckoo, and lays its eggs in the nests of a range of other bird species. I watched Mr and Mrs Wattle Bird rear one a couple of years ago. Since then they have been prone to eat meat!?!

Yes I KNOW wattle birds eat nectar ... or are supposed to. Their Koel baby was twice their size ... it's amazing it didn't eat them!
